TradeKart’s Halloween Promotional Campaign: Behind the Shoot
TradeKart wanted to capitalise on Halloween without producing generic promotional content. The brief was simple: create a campaign that felt entertaining, authentic, and relevant to a UK trade audience — while still delivering a clear commercial message.
We delivered a social-first campaign combining video production, influencer collaboration, and campaign-led creative execution.
The Strategic Idea
Every tradesperson knows the frustration of a job stalling because the right part isn’t available. That tension is universal and perfect for storytelling.
We built a campaign around “scary trade stories”, using the familiar Halloween campfire format to dramatise real trade problems and position TradeKart as the solution.
The result: entertainment first, brand message second
Execution: Campaign-Led, Not Asset-Led
Rather than producing one-off content, the campaign was designed as a multi-format content system delivered in a single production day:
- A hero social video for Instagram
- Short-form cut-downs for paid and organic social
- Seasonal photography for email, web, and social
This approach ensured the content worked across TradeKart’s wider October marketing activity, not just one post.
Influencer Marketing Done Right
We collaborated with established trade creators to bring authenticity to the campaign — not to make them the focus.
Their role was simple:
- Represent real trade scenarios
- Add credibility and relatability
- Extend reach into relevant trade audiences
The Narrative
The video followed a tight problem–solution structure:
- Tradespeople share familiar “job-from-hell” moments, sitting around a campfire.
- Tension builds around unavailable parts.
- TradeKart is introduced as the fix.
- A light-hearted twist ending reinforces the message.
Highlight moment: After a series of horror stories, the twist reveals the campfire is just in a suburban back garden — and a TradeKart delivery driver shows up at the door. It’s a playful nod to real-life trade challenges and the brand’s accessibility.
Production Quality That Elevated the Brand
While the concept was playful, execution was taken seriously.
- Lighting & Atmosphere: The natural glow of the campfire, supplemented with subtle fill lights, created a cinematic, Halloween mood without losing visibility of the creators.
- Sound Design: Subtle fire crackles, rustling leaves, and background ambience added depth.
- Performance: The tradespeople weren’t actors — their comedic yet authentic storytelling brought genuine credibility to the campaign.
High production standards made the content premium rather than purely promotional, essential for standing out on social media where low-quality content is easy to ignore.
Results and Commercial Impact
The hero video achieved 20,000+ Instagram views, exceeding typical engagement benchmarks. But the impact went further:
- Content was repurposed across multiple channels and formats.
- The campaign supported TradeKart’s wider October promotion.
- Assets delivered long-term value, not single-use content.
This shows the value of campaign-led content versus ad-hoc posts: it’s about building a library that works hard across platforms.
Why the Campaign Worked
Several key factors contributed to its success:
- Strategic Insight: Rooted in real trade experience.
- Entertainment-Led Execution: Engaging, not just promotional.
- Authenticity: Real tradespeople sharing relatable stories.
- High Production Standards: Cinematic quality reflecting brand positioning.
- Multi-Format Delivery: Maximised ROI and reach.
This combination created content that wasn’t just seen — it resonated.
The Bigger Picture
The TradeKart Halloween campaign proves that construction /trade brands don’t have to settle for safe or generic marketing.
By taking a creative risk with a seasonal narrative, they produced content that was:
- Memorable and shareable
- Brand-building rather than purely sales-driven
- Strategically designed to work across multiple touchpoints
